Personal Care
National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) plans are created to give participants the practical and essential help they need to engage in day-to-day activities. An individual or an NDIS participant can be eligible for personal care with Assistance with daily living.
Assistance with daily life falls under the “core Supports” category and covers everyday support with personal activities to assist you to live in your home as independently as possible.
Personal care can include tasks such as showering, dressing and toileting. All people, including those with a disability have the right to feel safe and to be treated with dignity, particularly when they require assistance with personal care.
As per NDIS, personal care support includes assistance with daily personal activities along with:
- Showering, bathing, personal and oral hygiene, dressing and grooming
- Bathing and showering, including bed-baths
- Support with shaving
- Applying lotions and creams as required
- Applying makeup and hair care
- Dressing and getting ready for bed
- Helping you to the toilet
- Positioning and rotating in bed, to prevent bed sores
- Changing or maintaining a stoma or catheter bag, or other forms of clinical intervention
