Plan-managed Funding
Plan manager will do the following,
- increase your financial and plan management skills
- track your funding
- protect your funding to only those who you give access
- get your approval to pay invoices
- increase your choice of providers
- pay providers and services
- pay for equipment and consumables.
- get NDIS plan budget reports and greater budget oversight
NDIA-managed Funding
When your plan is managed by the NDIA (sometimes referred to as Agency-managed):
- You are able to choose from a range of NDIS registered providers.
- Your providers claim payment electronically from your funding.
- You cannot use unregistered providers.
- You can look on the myplace portal to see what claims providers are making against your NDIS funding and keep track of your budget.
- The NDIA will manage your book-keeping and records of your spending.
Cons: The inability to have a wider choice of providers
SELF-managed Funding
Self-managing your NDIS funding gives you control and flexibility in arranging and paying for your support. You will submit your Invoices directly to the NDIS for payment and they will transfer the funds into your nominated bank account, you will be responsible to pay your service providers and accounts.
Self Managed you can do the following, Pros:
- flexibility to employ or contract staff directly, or have someone employ staff on your behalf.
- with coordination of Support in your plan, you can navigate the processes easily
Cons:
- can be challenging without a support coordinator to understand how their plan works and how to get the most out of it.
- may be difficult to get funding at planing review
- participants facing mental health challenges or limited finance experience may face certain challenges
- you are responsible to ensure the funding lasts the duration of the plan, may have to negotiate with service providers
- you are responsible for paying accounts on tim
